Shhhhhh...watch what you say!

Has anyone ever said something to you that hurt you to your core? Have you ever said anything that you have regretted? Something that you knew was going to hurt but you couldn't stop it from spewing out of your mouth?

Words can hurt, defile, and weigh people down. Jesus said, "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.'" (Mark 7:20-23 NIV)

We are all guilty of this. Whether it was something unkind that was said to a neighbor, road rage, yelling at our children, or dishonoring our spouse. It's there. That tendancy to speak ugliness. We need self-control....a fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). I recently read a blog post, by T. Suzanne Eller, about this same subject. I thought it very fitting and inspiring.

It's not very long...and it shares some great advice!
