Everyone loves to be appreciated! Your time and resources are valuable to you and your families.
MOPS could not run at the local level without volunteers...many volunteers.
As leaders, we need a "heart of appreciation," as Bonnie Smith puts it. In her latest Leaders Online email, she writes:
"People need to feel valued and appreciated, even if they say they don’t need to hear a thank you. We all give of our time and resources because we believe in the ministry of MOPS, yet being appreciated – valued for what we do – helps to keep us motivated and continue giving. Encouragement and affirmation can keep a leader engaged in the face of difficult circumstances. And appreciation builds a sense of team, knowing that each person is important to the overall mission."
Do you show your team appreciation? Here are some tips from Bonnie to do just that:
- Face to face: Meet for coffee, a Diet Coke or simply spend some time talking
- Written notes/cards
- Newsletter: Acknowledge the work of the team here so others can show their appreciation
- Gift cards for places they enjoy eating or getting coffee.
It only takes a few minutes of your time to give acknowledgement and encouragement to those who give of their precious time!
Please leave a comment to let us know how you show your unique team members how much they are appreciated!
