Summertime Summertime! a post by Kathy Jerman, CD

Happy Summer!!! I can't believe it is July already! 2012 is half over!! While summer is a great time to take a break from your MOPS responsibilities and recharge and relax, I encourage you to spend some moments here and there focused on what your next MOPS year will look like and connecting with other moms.

Check out the MOPS board on Pinterest. There are tons of great ideas!
http://pinterest.com/mops_int/. Get connected to other MOPS leaders on the Facebook leaders pages. If you don't already have your own facebook page for your group, consider setting one up to help your moms stay connected. Arrange summer play dates and moms nights out. Start a summer Bible Study for your group, have a MOPS and POPS game night where you invite moms and their husbands for an informal night of games and fun. Plan a summer BBQ for the moms and their families at a local park or the beach. Stay connected this summer!

Spend some time this summer reading the new theme book and devotional:

Mom Connection: Creating Vibrant Relationships in the Midst of Motherhood by Tracey Bianchi. The essence of the book is that moms need to be connected in relationships in order to be better moms. The content includes an emphasis on finding your rhythm in relationships, in terms of family, marriage, friendships and broader community.

Always There: Reflections for Moms on God's Presence, Susan Besze Wallace General Editor. Organized around the times of a mom’s day, and the truth that God is always present, a relationship you can count on. This book is a compilation of many voices and will affirm a mom’s relationship with God and the fact that she can count on God throughout her mothering experience, with the daily joys and sorrows of mothering.
Kelly Jordan, MOPS Regional Developer, recently wrote about being prepared. "For MOPS leaders, being prepared includes using every resource available to you. If you are new to your leadership position and need some help taking the first step across the wire, here are some great places to start – the MOPS GuideConnections magazine, ConventionNext Level Leadership webinars, your Field Leader, Community Leadership Training. If you have been in leadership for years, these are still great places to spend your energy. Challenge yourself to find something new or to mentor another leader. Consider using your experience to walk alongside other leaders by becoming a Field Leader. Know what’s available to you and use every resource so you can lead well and be prepared for the unexpected. "
Enjoy your summer and be ready to dive into next year's theme "Plunge - Love as if Your Life Depended On It".

Theme Verse: 1 Peter 4:8-11 (The Message)     "Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God's words; if help, let it be God's hearty help. That way, God's bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he'll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes! "
